Carbotech Manufacturing is a full-service fabrication shop in Roebuck, South Carolina. The team builds heavy-duty material handling systems and structural components for industrial customers. Mechanical and electrical engineers work in house alongside the fabricators, so customers get design, fabrication, assembly, paint, and installation from a single source.
Most fabrication shops cut and weld what you send them. Carbotech Manufacturing does that work, but the shop was built to do more than fill orders. Engineers sit on the same floor as the fabricators, so a plant manager can arrive with a production problem instead of a finished print. The shop also manages turnkey projects from concept through installation. Jon Comber and four partners from the Canadian parent company opened the Roebuck plant in 2023, giving a young South Carolina operation manufacturing experience that reaches back decades.

The plant
Inside the Roebuck fabrication plant
The plant occupies 14,000 square feet at 129 Old Airport Road in Spartanburg County. Equipment on the floor covers the full path from raw stock to finished assembly. A Mazak 510 laser cuts plate up to one inch thick. A Hyd-Mech S-23A saw, a Hypertherm plasma cutter, and a Piranha 60-ton ironworker handle structural work. Multiple Lincoln welders cover aluminium, stainless steel, and mild steel. Paint happens in the same building, so parts never leave the property between operations and no schedule waits on an outside vendor.
The site is also set to house a training centre covering the equipment the group produces. Material capability runs across aluminium, stainless steel, and mild steel, and jobs range from a single cut part to a full assembled system. Turnkey project management covers the jobs that need one team from drawing to installed equipment.

The Roebuck operation is new. The company behind it is not. Carbotech was founded in Quebec in 1987 and spent decades building log handling and wood processing equipment for sawing and planing mills. According to the South Carolina Governor’s Office, the group committed $3.4 million to the Spartanburg County facility with plans to create 35 jobs there.
That parent company gives the Roebuck plant access to engineering depth, proven designs, and a supply base a startup shop does not have.
